New medals revealed for the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon, Half Marathon & Mini Marathon

If runners were looking for some extra motivation to run in the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon, Half Marathon or Mini Marathon then race organiser, Sweatshop have just provided it with the reveal of the 2016 medal. Finishers will be in for a treat once they cross the Race Village finish line where they will be greeted with a newly designed medal dedicated to their race.
Here are 10 facts about the medal to get you eager for that start line:
1. The medal design from conception through to production is a three-month process carried out by the Sweatshop team
2. The Sweatshop team worked on the design and production with a medal company in Philadelphia USA
3. The 2016 Marathon medal is inspired by the Commonwealth Games 2014 design
4. The medals are made of a Zinc Alloy
5. The diameter of the Half and Mini Marathon medal is 75mm and the diameter of the Marathon medal is 85mm
6. The Stag is used on the design to pay homage to the occupants of Wollaton Park
7. The Stag on the Half and Marathon medal is bigger in size compared to the Mini Marathon medal to represent the schools challenge element of the 1.5 mile race
8. The Stag is in a running pose on the 2016 medal compared to just the Stag’s head from the 2015 design
9. The Stag on the Marathon medal is formatted as a cut out and is double sided whereas the Half and Mini Marathon medals are one sided with space on the back for a runners itab (small plate that is engraved with your name and finishing time)
10. The ribbon colours are different; Red for the Mini Marathon, Orange for the Half Marathon and Green for the Marathon
Judith Manson, Race Director, comments: “We’ve listened to runner feedback and have worked long and hard on the design to make sure our finishers can wear their medals with great pride. We always try to reflect the history of Nottingham with Robin Hood featured on the ribbon and the Stag representing links to the City Council Coat of Arms and Wollaton Park. We want to celebrate the achievements of our runners and also give them something to look forward to when they cross that finish line and we think we’ve got just that for them!”
