New course record up for grabs at Cheshire Oaks Chester Half Marathon

Runners are signing up in record numbers to be the first to set a quick time on the new Cheshire Oaks Chester Half Marathon course, and the race is expected to be full before Easter.

In addition to a £3,000 cash prize fund, Cheshire Oaks are donating £500 each for the male and female record holders for the new course.

“We are expecting some fast times on Sunday 13 May,” says Race Organiser Andy White.  “There will be an elite start and plenty of elbow room for the runners on roads that will be closed for the event, so there is every opportunity to get a PB.  We have built a reputation for delivering high quality events - the kind of races we have always wanted to do ourselves - and refuse to compromise on standards.”

With this in mind, organisers will be providing an attractive package for runners that will include:

1.  Special elite packages for faster runners

2.  Club team prizes

3.  Bottled water rather than plastic cups, supplemented by Shotz energy gels

4.  Quality technical T-shirts, medals and goody bags

“We are especially excited about our new city centre finish,” added White. “For the first time we will finish in front of the Town Hall and runners can relax after the race in historic Chester’s many cafes and bars and have that well deserved drink!”
