Science in Sport have launched a marathon guide, aimed at keen runners with advice on training (including plan), recovery, nutrition, warm ups, and equipment.

The book offers simple and sensible advice on marathon preparation without over-complicating things. Each section of the book contains simple strategies that will help you work towards a new personal best. For example, the training section contains four training methods with a simple explanation of what it is and how often it should be done:

  1. Steady pace
  2. Tempo paced run
  3. Fartlek
  4. Not too easy, not too hard
