Mini Mile Breaks New Ground

Hard on the heels of the unqualified success of the Iconiq Shlurp! Mini Mile Races, young runners will now enjoy their own day dedicated solely to their efforts.
In 2014 the Mini Mile will be held on Saturday 5 April, the day before the Brighton Marathon.
A new slot deserves a new venue and in a change to previous years the races will be held in Preston Park, the first race getting under way at 11am.
With the start area already set up for the Marathon, children and parents will share in the atmosphere of a big city event as they get the weekend of non-stop action off with a bang.
Instead of competing over the final mile of the Marathon course, the Mini Milers will experience all the excitement of the actual start complete with big screen, TV cameras and commentators.
The new venue and start time are expected to attract even more youngsters to an event that saw over 2,000 children sign up in 2013.
Organisers have set the bar even higher this time and are aiming for the impressive target of 3,000 schoolchildren.
Parents who are taking part in the Marathon on the following day will now have the opportunity to see their children race over an attractive loop course making it easy to follow their child’s progress.
The race is open to anyone between the ages of seven and 17. All competitors receive a T-shirt, kit bag and a medal on finishing.
The Mini Mile Races are also partnered with Barnardo’s, a charity supported by Shlurp!
