Martin Rees targeting World Best at Bristol 10k

The third race in the runbritain Grand Prix takes place on 31 May at the Bristol 10k and the entries are stacking up to promise an exciting event across the board.
One very exciting spectacle will be Martin Rees' (handicap -0.9) attempt to run the fastest 10k in the world for a 62 year old.
Martin turned 62 at the end of February and ran his first race as a 62 year old at the Bath Half Marathon He completed the half marathon course in 73:20 and broke Mike Hager's (handicap 8.3) world best, for a 62 year old, of 76:37.
At Bath, Martin went through 10k in 33:40.The current world best for a 62 year old is 35:42 and so Martin is on course to break this record on 31 May.
The Bristol 10k is the third race in the runbritain Grand Prix and takes place just six days after race number two, The Bupa London 10,000. Two of the early elite entries for Bristol are John Beattie (handicap -4.9) who is currently sitting second on the table with 349 points and just one point behind Ian Kimpton (handicap -4.4) ) and Emma Stepto (handicap -0.8) who won last year's women's Grand Prix.
