Martin extends Reward Running lead with four days to go

With the final weekend of racing now over for the month, Peter Martin retains his lead at the head of November’s edition of Reward Running - the final edition of the year - with four days to go.
A regular at the Frimley Lodge parkrun 5k, Martin smashed his best time for the month by over a minute as he clocked 25:10 on Saturday (24 November).
He started the month with a handicap of 32.22 and has reduced that to 21.65 (only a week ago it was 25.30) to give him an impressive improvement of 10.57 and a clear lead ahead of second placed Matthew Hardcastle (handicap improvement 10.18).
Hardcastle himself has made big gains in the last seven days courtesy of his fourth parkrun of the month - and his quickest by almost a minute - at the Newcastle parkrun 5k.
William Laye (Warwick University) has moved into third with a handicap of 7.24. Like Martin and Hardcastle, his most recent performances have also come via parkrun, most significantly his 18:50 in Coventry on Saturday which was his quickest of the month.
This is the final edition of Reward Running for 2012. It's our free monthly competition where runners can win a prize if they reduce their handicap score by the largest number of points in the month. At the end of the month, the runners who are in the top 10 of the leaderboard that month will win a prize; an adidas miCoach for the winner, and Sennheiser headphones for the rest. For November we're also offering five bonus prizes (also Sennheiser headphones); four are random spot prizes, while the fifth, in a fitting celebration as we near the end of a year like no other, will be awarded to the 2012th finisher!
