Marathon of the North route revealed

The 26.2 miles of sea front, park and pounding tarmac that makes up Sunderland’s new Marathon of the North route has been revealed by Charlie Spedding, Britain's last athlete to win an Olympic medal in the marathon. The launch was held at Adventure Sunderland, a marine activity centre on the city’s sea front where the route will pass. Marathon organiser and fellow Olympic medallist Steve Cram welcomed online travel company redspottedhanky.com on board as the official Marathon of the North sponsor. Redspottedhanky.com has also agreed to sponsor the Sunderland City 10k, which takes place on the same day as the marathon, for the second year in succession.
