Looking to get on the start line for the Morrisons Great North Run 2016?

Although the ballot has closed for the Morrisons Great North Run 2016, you can still get your place on the starting line for this incredible half marathon by running for Breast Cancer Now. Katherine Reay ran for #TeamNow in 2015, she gives us her reasons for running in support of her friend Nicki.
“There was no question of why we were running. It was in September of 2014 when a very good friend told us that she had had a mastectomy. I’ll never forget the moment when my friend, Nicki, told me she had cancer. She was not supposed to get cancer, she had been training for the Morrisons Great North Run in 2014 when diagnosed – she was fit and healthy!
Running the Morrisons Great North Run 2015 for Breast Cancer Now alongside the very person who had breast cancer was in all honesty in the top ten days of my life. It was an honour to run with someone so brave and who had been through so much, it was beyond fantastic. Breast Cancer Now were supportive and helpful during the run up to the event – even sending through t-shirts for the kids who were running the mini-great north run on the Saturday. Nothing was too much bother.
It became clear that investment into research of breast cancer was the most valuable way that we could support our friend. Hence, we focused in on Breast Cancer Now. I am ashamed to admit that until very recently I had never examined myself – now I do. I had large gaps (and still do) of awareness about breast cancer. Breast Cancer Now focuses on working to bridge these gaps which in turn will reduce the numbers of women (and men) that lose their lives and loves to the disease. Is there any better reason to run for Breast Cancer Now?”
