June Reward Running - Ben Sales races to overall win

Reward RunningCongratulations to all our prize winners in June’s bumper edition of Reward Running.

Ben Sales, who was in third place with just over a week to go, propelled himself into the lead with a late parkrun outing and took overall victory with a handicap improvement of 7.23, winning an adidas mi-coach for his efforts. He was also the top placed category 4 athlete (athlete with a handicap of 21 or above going into the competition).

The top 10 in the Reward Running leader board consists of the runners who have improved their handicap the most in that month.

To enter the main competition, runners need to have done at least two races in the year before the current month, but other runners may be eligible for a spot prize. Following bonus months in April and May, June was another big bonus month with four spot prizes (Sennheiser headphones) up for grabs in addition to the main prizes.

After Sales, all other athletes in the top ten take home Sennheiser headphones: junior athlete Paige Nealon (Peterborough), a consistent presence in the top three from the start, finished second and the top category 3 athlete with a handicap improvement of 6.72; Joanna Stephens was third with a handicap improvement of 6.25 and Andrew Brown (Yeovil Town) was fourth with an improvement of 5.99.

Karen Stopforth, the leader with just nine days to go, ended up in fifth (5.88), while Keiran Sullivan (Ballymena Runners), Sabri Bertug (Stragglers) and John Scott finished sixth (5.76), seventh (5.55) and eighth (5.32) respectively.

The category 2 prize went to Ben Rodriguez (Stowmarket) in ninth with a handicap improvement of 3.65 after taking his initial handicap down from 11.35 to 7.70, and in category 1, Alan Cooney (Saxmundham) finished in pole position in tenth overall.

All winners - including those who have won spot prizes - will be contacted soon.

The full ‘locked down’ June board is available through the following link, but don’t worry if you were too late to enter, get involved with July’s Reward Running which offers even more...firstly, we’re still waiting on the 25,000th handicap claimant who will win an adidas mi-coach (RRP £125); secondly, there are four more Sennheiser headphones up for grabs as additional bonus prizes.

Happy racing!
