Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon - updated news

Robin Hood HalfThe organisers of the Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon - now in its 32nd year and taking place on Sunday 30 September - are pleased to announce a promotional partnership with Experience Nottinghamshire, celebrating the best of heritage and sport in one spectacular event.

Creating a destination event is the key target of the partnership, connecting people with like minded interests to experience a fast, flat half marathon on a new route combined with an unforgettable weekend of heritage, history, culture and world class entertainment in Nottingham.

“We are very excited about working with Experience Nottinghamshire,” said Gill Thomas, Marketing Director of Sweatshop. “We wanted to create an excellent experience for the race weekend to include not only the superb new flat and fast route for the Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon, but a whole destination event drawing the best of Nottinghamshire heritage to Victoria Embankment on the 30 September.”

The heritage village will feature a feast of family entertainment with a Nottinghamshire twist at the heart of the race village where runners, spectators, families and friends can meet to celebrate race day and everyone’s achievements.

Creating a family day experience with an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie, the heritage village will see many legendary characters including Robin Hood and Maid Marian making a privileged presence along with traditional activities and entertainment taking place. There will also be a record attempt with a plan to get as many runners as possible dressed in Robin Hood tunics in one place and taking part in the race.

The Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon takes place again too, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to run, walk or jog a 1.5 mile course and be part of race day. The Mini Marathon also features the Schools Challenge which is open to all schools in the surrounding area with prizes for the winning schools in various age categories. Entry fee for the Ikano Robin Hood Mini Marathon is just £6.75 including a free t-shirt. There truly is something for everyone to get involved and be active!
