Great Winter Runners accompany Olympic Gold Medallist on Sunday morning run
Last Saturday thousands of runners took part in the BUPA Great Winter Run held in the fine surroundings of Holyrood Park in Edinburgh. The 5k course took the runners on a challenging loop around the iconic Arthur's Seat. The event was held on the same day as the BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross Country so that, afterwards, the runners could enjoy the spectacle of some of the world's best middle and long distance athletes race for glory and if that was not enough to inspire them to keep up the training, many of them took the opportunity to accompany Olympic Gold Medallist, Kenenisa Bekele, on a training run the next morning!
After completing the 5k run in just over 25 minutes, Stuart Donnelly, was up bright and early the next day for the training run. Writing on our facebook wall he said, "A 5km Sunday morning jog with Kenenisa Bekele around Holyrood Park in Edinburgh, the day after the Great Winter Run and International Cross Country - still can't believe it happened! Thanks to the Great Winter Run organisers for setting it up. Doesn't get much more inspirational than that."
