Grand Prix top 250 - entries for Bristol need to be in by Monday

Although entries for the Bristol 10k have now closed, runners who are in the top 250 on the Grand Prix score board have until Monday to put their entry in.

The Bristol 10k, that is the third race in the runbritain Grand Prix takes place on 31 May.

Early elite entries in the men's competition include John Beattie (handicap -4.9) who is currently sitting second on the table with 349 points and just one point behind Ian Kimpton (handicap -5.1) )and the men's 2011 and 2013 overall Grand Prix winners: Phil Wicks (handicap -4.2) and Nicholas Torry (handicap -4.1)

The women's competition is also stacking up nicely with registrations from the winner of last year's Grand Prix,  Emma Stepto (handicap -0.9);  Rachel Felton (handicap 0.1)  who finished 3rd last year and Olympian, Mara Yamauchi (handicap 5.7) who, at 41, is now looking to claim masters' titles.

Also looking for a masters' world best time is Martin Rees (handicap -0.9) who will aim to run the fastest ever 10k for a 62 year old. Martin's latest world best, for a 62 year old, was his 27:04 for 5 miles at the Cardiff Bay 5. This took a massive 2:28 off the previous record that belonged to Ed Witlock of Canada.

Andrew Green (handicap -2.3), will also be on the start line looking to better his own world best for a 52 year old. Andrew, from Warrington in Cheshire, set the current world best at the Trafford 10k in March when he ran 31:33. This is 2:42 faster than any other M50 this year. He then went on to set a world best of 15:30 for 5k at the Podium 5k on 18 April. He will be aiming to run the Bristol 10k in close to 31 minutes!

Places are reserved for runners who are in the top 250 on the Grand Prix score board as well as elite athletes that have times of below 31.30 mins for men and 35.30 for women. Up-and-coming young athletes will also be considered.
