Grand Prix points updated

Cardiff Half start

We are pleased to  bringyou the latest Grand Prix standings.

Grand Prix points are awarded for the first 250 finishing positions in the six races that are in the series. 250 points are awarded to the first British finisher, down to 1 point for the 250th British finisher and there are extra points available for fast times. Up to the best four scores from the six available races count at the end of the series. Prize money totals £18,000 and is shared by the top 10 male and female British runners.

The fifth race was run on Sunday at the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon and many of the favourites for the prize money were present but nobody was able to knock John Beattie (handicap -4.8) from the top of the table. John has run four out of the six races, gaining bonus points in three out of the four to give him 1485 points. Dewi Griffiths (handicap -5.5) has come relatively close, however, after running his third race on Sunday. He has claimed bonus points in all three races that he has run and has a total of 1243. He only needs to finish 9th with no bonus points, at the final race, to equal John's current total.

Rachel Felton (handicap -0.4) moved into the top spot in the women's standings on Sunday. Rachel now has 991 points and Faye Fullerton (handicap -1.0) is in 2nd with 982 points. Both have done four races. Michelle Ross Cope (handicap -0.9) was the sixth eligible finisher on Sunday and moved herself into 7th on the table whilst Jenny Spink (handicap -0.5) was the second eligbile finisher and now moves up into 8th. Both Michelle and Jenny have only done three races but have high points with 744 and 742 respectively. A top placing in the final race will put both in contention for the top prize of £3000.

The fnal race takes place at the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash 10k on 15th November.
