Going for the marathon hat-trick

Running the Marathon takes pure dedication, but one Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) supporter is taking that dedication to a different level by aiming to complete her third London Marathon in two weeks time – and raise a 5-figure sum for the ICR at the same time.
American-born Lynn Frieda is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of cancer patients. Each year she aims to beat her previous fundraising target and this year her goal is £14,000.
Lynn said: “So many of my friends and family have been affected by cancer and research is something most of us will benefit from in one form or another throughout our lifetime. I do believe that every bit of fundraising helps.”
And it’s not just her fundraising target that Lynn aims to beat. She also wants to beat her personal best and complete the Marathon in 4hours 15 minutes. Husband Gene and son Lorenzo will be there to cheer her on as she passes the finishing line.
Charlotte Orrell-Jones, Head of Events at the ICR, said: “Our Marathon runners have very personal reasons for taking on the 26.2 mile course. Lynn is a fantastic example of how one person’s dedication can make a huge difference to the lives of cancer patients. We are truly grateful for Lynn’s support.”
