Get ready for Grand Prix race number 4

The British Milers Club 10k track festival to be held on the 6^th September 2014 provides the fourth race in the runbritain Grand Prix 

We are now half way through the series and the current Grand Prix standings show that there are just four points separating the top three women.

Emma Stepto (handicap MINUS 1.0) is currently top of the table with 737 points. Emily Wicks (handicap MINUS 0.1) is sitting in second with 734 and Rachel Fenton (handicap 0.3) is third with 733. Their finishing positions and points in each of the races on the table below show how closely these runners push each other as they play cat and mouse for the top positions. Emma has come out on top in two of the three races (the half marathon in Reading and the Bristol 10k) but Rachel had very good results in the shorter 10k races (Bristol and London) and finished in front of Emma and Emily at London. There is everything to play for in the autumn races of the series and, it should be noted that, all three of these athletes have done all of the races in the series so far. There are others, in the mix, who only have two races under their belt and could close the gap with good results in the autumn. Tish Jones (handicap -1.2) finished 2nd in Reading and 3rd in London but missed the Bristol race. Rebecca Robinson (handicap 0.4) finished 7th in Reading and won Bristol.but missed London.

Scott Overall (handicap MINUS 5.3) is currently at the top of the men's table with a massive 948 points. He scored 350 at Reading: 250 for winning and an extra 100 for running sub 65 minutes. He then picked up 250 at Bristol for winning and 348 in London: 248 for finishing 3rd and and extra 100 for running sub 30 minutes. He is currently 221 points ahead of James Connor (handicap MINUS 4.3), who is in second place. The current top seven have done every race in the series so far but sitting in 8th place is last year's winner Nicholas Torry (handicap MINUS 5.3). He finished 2nd in Reading and also claimed an extra 100 bonus points and finished 7th in London.

The fourth race in the series will be hosted by Trafford Athletics Club. The races will take place at Longford Park's famously fast track. The meeting will include:

·         Graded races, including women’s only, from 1pm through to floodlight time

·         Crowd spectating from lane three. Live entertainment, licensed bar, special guests, spectacular atmosphere.

·         Pacemakers for leading races including women-only. Beijing World Championship qualifying times targeted

·         Sub 28 mins to sub 48 mins catered for. Full electronic timing

·         Commemorative medal for all finishers

The top 250 men and women from the Bupa London 10000 will now receive an email inviting them to enter.
