Extended Early Booking Offer for Tour of Tameside

Tour of Tameside

The Tour of Tameside will be reborn this year after a 14 year absence. This three day running challenge takes place on Friday the 19th, Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st June and the early booking offer has been extended to 30 April. In addition, runners who are unable to run in all three events can enter individual races at an 'Early Bird' price!

The iconic Tour of Tameside running event was created in the 1980s by legendary British Marathon runner Dr Ron Hill MBE and it became World famous, attracting top runners from all over the UK and the World to compete.

Runners who take on all three days will cover the distance of a full marathon, with each day covering different routes and types of terrain across a mixture of closed roads, trails and country routes.

With the assistance of Ron Hill, and the support of local organisations, Sports Tours International is reintroducing the Tour of Tameside and it will be become, not just a important running race, but a major community engagement event in the North West of England.

Ron, who competed in the challenge every year until the last Tour in 2003, commented: “It is great to see the Tour of Tameside back on the race calendar after an absence of fifteen years. Events like this are difficult to organise in this day and age but I am sure it will go from strength to strength and bring Tameside into the spotlight once more.”

In addition, runners who are unable to take part in all three races are able to enter individual races at a discounted rate.
