Clara Evans replaces Charlotte Arter in British team for World Half Marathon Championships

British Athletics have confirmed that Charlotte Arter (handicap -2.4) has withdrawn from next month’s World Athletics Half Marathon Championships, with Clara Evans (handicap -1.4) in line to come into the team.
Charlotte Arter (handicap -2.4), who finished fifth at the Barcelona Half Marathon in February in a season’s best 70:00, had returned to action over 5k in Cardiff earlier this month after suffering an injury setback during lockdown and was in line to make her third successive appearance at the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships, following appearances in both 2016 and 2018.
The Cardiff athlete will be replaced in the team by Evans, who recorded her second half marathon personal best of the year in Antrim a fortnight ago, clocking 72:21 to improve on the 72:29 effort she recorded at the Barcelona Half Marathon in February.
Evans will make her maiden British appearance in Gdynia’s next month and becomes the sixth British debutant on the team.
