The organisers of the multi award-winning Ealing Half Marathon have confirmed that general public places have sold out for its fifth anniversary race on Sunday 25th September 2016.
Anyone wishing to run the race that has been voted the UK’s best half marathon for the last three years at the prestigious Running Awards can however still do so by running for charity.
With just over two weeks to race day, runners can still register to run the Ealing Half Marathon 2016 for one of three superb headline charities: Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK and CLIC Sargent.
Over 7,000 places have been sold for this popular West London race that attracts runners from all over the UK and abroad wanting to experience the famous #EalingFeeling.
Running for charity is a fantastic way to get involved as the charities help runners every step of the way, from providing practical fundraising advice and training tips to running vests and cheering packs. They are also present on the day with full race-day support and dedicated cheering points adding to the lively atmosphere en route.
The Ealing Half Marathon has always been a fantastic platform for charity fundraising. Over the last four years the event has raised over £850,000 for various charities, and the organisers are hoping to top £1 million with the 2016 race.
In addition to the money it raises for charity, the Ealing Half Marathon is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that dedicates funds to projects that make sport and fitness available to all. In its commitment to promote physical activity locally, the company engages in year-round activities such as creating running clubs in schools, tackling childhood obesity, setting up local running groups and supporting the local adult and junior parkrun.
Race Director Kelvin Walker commented: “We are delighted that the Ealing Half Marathon has sold out its public places for its fifth anniversary race. Running for one of our official charities is an extremely rewarding way for last-minute entrants to get involved in what has become a key event in the London running calendar. We have three fantastic headline charities for whom events such as ours can make a huge difference. For many people this is a great way to give something back whilst supporting a worthy cause.
“We are looking forward to filling our last few charity spaces with just over two weeks to go until the UK’s favourite half marathon!”
The Ealing Half Marathon starts and finishes in Lammas Park and features a 13.1 mile route on closed roads around the leafy streets and parks of the West London Borough. The race is well known for its huge support and lively atmosphere.
