Domestic track season ignites at Bromley Twilight Invitational

The Bromley Twilight Invitational with the organisational genius of Mark Hookway saw outstanding times in the 3000m events that rounded off a spectacular night of PBs and performances climbing up the runbritain rankings.
Marc Scott (handicap -6.9), the European indoor record holder over 5000m,was clearly a man in form after a recent 1500m PB of 3:35 after his 5000m indoor record during the indoor season.
One of the best ever domestic fields assembled with the help of organiser Mark Hookway saw Marc Scott stop the clock at 7:43.38 just held off James West (handicap -6.1), who finished second in 7:43.79 with Jonny Davies (handicap -5.5) third with 7:45.75 and probably the fastest ever international triathlete Alex Yee (handicap -5.7) next, with an amazing 7:45.81.
Other sub 8:00 performances came from Phil Sesemann (handicap -5.9) with 7:52.42 and James Gormley (handicap -6.1) with 7:57.77.
The women's 3000 invitational saw a trio of PBs for the top 3. Amelia Quirk (handicap 0.3) marking ran a massive PB with 8:54.09 ahead of Verity Ockenden’s (handicap -1.2) 8:56.72 and Nicole Taylor (handicap -0.6) in 9:12.18.
Jessica Judd (handicap -2.3) won the women’s 1500m clocking 4:10.03 ahead of Beth Kidger's (handicap 0.1) 4:15.22 and a 4:16.71 from Sabrina Sinha (handicap 0.3).
The men’s 1500m was won by Adam Clarke (handicap -5.7) in 3:41.57 from Tom Dodd (handicap -5.9) with 3:44.25.
UK 800m running goes from strength to strength with Olympic hopeful Joshua Lay (handicap -5.5) showing his class on a windy night with a PB of 1:46.78 from another youngster, Alex Botterill (handicap -5.9) in a PB of 1:46.82.
The fastest woman over 800m was in the B race with a PB for Khahisa Mhlanga (handicap -0.8) in 2:01.91. In the women’s A race Isabelle Boffey (handicap 1.1) was first in a PB of 2:02.10, with Katie Snowden (handicap 3.3) second in 2:02.40 and Katie Kirk (handicap 0.0) third in 2:02.98.
