Laura Muir lets the dogs out at the Great South Great Canine Run!

It was Laura Muir who gave her blessing as the the Great South weekend started with the Great Canine run for dogs and owners. This was a sell out event well in advance of the weekend festival. Wonderful weather greeted the start of this waggy tailed event!
With all sorts of 4-legged dogs from the slightest of cuddly creatures to the more traditional Alsatians Labradors and Husky looking breeds the start saw owners and dogs alike enthusiastically acceleratiing along the seaside venue.
The flat 2.5k course started on Clarence Esplanade, opposite the Skate Park, and headed west past the D-Day museum and the Blue Reef Aquarium. The turnaround point is next to Mozzarella Joes, before meandering back towards the starting area to finish…, dog tired!
The overall winners were a Siberian Husky named Lunar with David Sear as the support crew!He was well ahead of Beau and Steve McClean with Spud and Rowenna Gordon being the first woman over the line in 10:03 over the 2.5km course.
