While the weather proved challenging there were still more than 100 parkruns that went ahead.

The biggest race, this weekend, was the The Big Half Marathon that took place in London on Sunday 4th March, and proved to be a day of thrilling sporting achievement and first class entertainment with  incredible crowd support.

The race attracted athletes of all ages and abilities, from first time runners and charity runners to club runners and elite athletes seeking a PB or qualifying time on the fast course. Among these was a top quality British elite field attracted by the generous prize fund.

In a terrific race at the front,  Mo Farah (handicap -6.7) took a near victory (61:40) with Callum Hawkins (handicap -6.5) just behind in 61:45.

Charlotte Purdue (handicap-1.8) was an impressive winner of the womens event in a PB of 70:29 ahead of Lilly Partridge  (handicap-1.8) with 71:06 and Charlotte Arter (handicap -0.8) in 71:31. Julie Briscoe (handicap 0.8) was the W40 winner (77:01) having also won the Barcelona W40 event last month in 76:08.

Lucy Ruscoe (handicap 19.9) is the top woman at present on the leader board after her 41:41 at the Cheadle Spring 5. Top man on the leaderboard is Benjamin Leeds  (handicap 21.5) after his 31:02 Great Notley parkrun
