Lowest ever handicap score for Mo!

Around 57.000 took part in the Morrisons Great North Run on Sunday. After the starting pistol was fired by Jo Pavey (handicap -0.4), the runners were treated to a fly-over from the Red Arrows as they crossed the Tyne Bridge on their way from Newcastle to South Shields in warm and sunny conditions but the heat was no barrier to Mo Farah (handicap -8.0) who went on to win in fine style and reduce his handicap score to the lowest ever recorded with a magical -8.0.
Not only does this give him the lowest handicap score ever but his time of 59.22 is the fastest-ever half marathon time recorded by a Briton and it beat his previous best that he set in Lisbon earlier this year.
Did you race this weekend and did you reduce your score to an all-time low? Many of the results are now in. Make sure you #clickyourclock on yours before 12 o' clock tomorrow to be in with a chance of winning a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor in our Reward Running competition.
Laura Sturgeon (handicap 24.6 ) is currently leading the #clickyourclock competition after taking more off her score than Mo did from his! Laura took off 2.4 at the Pomphrey Hill parkrun on Saturday. After recording her first handicap score last December, Laura started racing more regularly from June this year and has taken her score from 35.0 go 24.6. Her latest improvement is 6.41%.
From those results that are in, the biggest races, last week, were:
Great North Run - We have the first 10,000 so far
Bristol Half - awaiting results
Great North Junior - 2,949 finishers
New Forest Half - 1,407 finishers
Lake Vyrnwy Half - 1,385 finishers
Lichfield 10K - 1,068 finishers
In the south-west region, the Bristol Half Marathon enjoyed good running conditions and provided a fast course, attracting around 10,000 runners with various motivations from running a fast time to completing a personal challenge and/or raising money for charity. The runners were cheered around the course by approximately 20,000 spectators. We currently have partial results and expect many more reduced handicap scores when we bring the others in soon.
The Reward Running competition finishes, for this week, at 12 o' clock tomorrow and we will endeavour to get full results by then so that you can #clickyourclock.
Did you improve your % score by more than Laura? If so, be sure to #clickyourclock before 12 o' clock tomorrow when the competition finishes for this week!
