The 10k - which kicks off at 10:15am on Sunday 9 September - starts and finishes in the Plaza at Salford Quays between the Lowry Theatre and the Lowry Outlet Mall. The route then goes through MediaCityUK, which was incorporated as part of the new route in 2011, past the BBC offices and across the Manchester Ship Canal, via the new bridge. Once in Trafford Park, it flows around the area, past Manchester United FC at Old Trafford, before coming back across the bridge, along the waterside and finishing back where you started. There are prizes in all categories and there is a goody bag for all finishers.

Prize money (equal for both men and women) has been increased for 2012 and is as follows:

*First: £250

*Second: £150

*Third: £75

In addition, there are prizes in all veteran categories.

The 5k, which starts at 10:30am, is less of a competitive race and will take place along part of the 10k course. It will run concurrently with the 10k, so you cannot enter both events.

The Corporate Challenge

The Corporate Challenge is open to all businesses to enter a team of runners, with the first three runners home from each team to count towards the Challenge. It's great for staff motivation and companies can use the event to raise money for their chosen charitable cause.
