Carwyn Jones and Rosie Smith - great parkrun performances despite conditions

Each week we look at the top ten male and female performances on the road, from the results we have, based on handicap score. Half of the top ten scores, for this week, came from parkruns and Carwyn Jones (handicap -3.0) and Rosie Smith (handicap 0.4) put in performances that gave a net score of -3.8 and 0.7 respectively.

Carwyn's performance at the Cardiff parkrun stood out particularly as it produced a net score of 0.8, which is better than his current handicap score and it took his current score down from -2,7. His time on this course, that was given an SSS of 2.6 to reflect very wet and difficult conditions there last Saturday was 15:40.  However, there was an unknown runner ahead of him who ran 15:31.

James Thie (handicap -3.9) also put in a great performance here with a time of 15:54. He later tweeted, "That's the wettest @cardiffparkrun our training group have done! But the praise & congrats goes 2 the volunteer organisers & marshals #Heroes"

Meanwhile, over at Durham conditions were just slightly better with an SSS of 2.5, Rosie ran 17:38 for the 5k run, which was the 5th fastest time of the day.
