Cardiff to host GB World Trials in 2015

The 2015 staging of the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 4th October will incorporate the British team trials for the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, to be held at the same venue in March 2016. The Cardiff race will also host the 2015 British Half Marathon Championships and the penultimate round of the 2015 runbritain Grand Prix.

The runbritain Grand Prix, won in 2014 by Scott Overall (handicap MINUS 5.4) and Emma Stepto (handicap MINUS 1.0) , will comprise six races and will offer a cumulative total of more than £60,000 in British only prize money, series money and time bonuses. The races included are:

Vitality Reading Half Marathon      -   Sunday 22nd March -          (incorporating English Championships)

Bupa London 10,000                        -   Monday 25th May   -            (incorporating British Championships)

Bristol 10k                                            - Sunday 31st May   

Cardiff 10k                                          - Sunday 6th September 

Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon  - Sunday 4th October             (incorporating British Championships)

Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash 10k      - Sunday 15th November     (incorporating English Championships)

 

The new addition to the 2015 Grand Prix is the flat and fast Cardiff 10k, which will be celebrating its 30th anniversary running, with all 30 having been under the stewardship of race director, Graham Finlayson.

In 2016, it is intended to expand the runbritain Grand Prix to a 10-race series with four additional events carrying a 150 points weighting.  Full details of the runbritain Grand Prix rules and points are available at /run-britain-grand-prix
