Busy domestic weekend as Kipchoge sets another world record

Another great weekend of racing saw some of the largest events across the UK. However all of the big news surrounded Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge who smashed the official marathon world record by clocking a time of 2:01:31 in Berlin.
In Berlin, 33-year-old Kipchoge took over 70 seconds off the previous official best, which was set by compatriot Dennis Kimetto when he ran 2:02:57 in Berlin in 2014. "I lack words to describe this day," said Kipchoge. "I am really grateful, happy to smash the world record."
As shown in the photograph, Kipchoge has run faster in an assisted marathon.
The women's Berlin race was won by Gladys Cherono of Kenya in 2:18:11.
There were numerous events across the UK that saw impressive fields with the English 10k and Half marathon in Warrington, surging past 3000 for one of the biggest domestic fields over the weekend.
Henry Pearce (handicap -3.7) was an impressive winner at the Simplyhealth Great East Run Half Marathon in 66:02. Helen Davies (handicap -0.6) was the women's winner in 77:10.
Matt Clowes (handicap -5.7) was an impressive winner in the Swansae Bay 10k in another sub 30 minute performance as he prepares for the Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff next month.
Steve Bayton (handicap -4.4) was the English Half Marathon winner in 67:35 with Catherine Carrdus (handicap 4.5) winning the women's event in 87:14.
