Bud's run

Bud, Jac and Bash

Bud Baldaro, national coach mentor for endurance running, is one of the most knowledgable and respected coaches in the world. For more than forty years he has made a great difference to the lives of runners...coaches...students...people.

Bud was diagnosed with Parkinson's five years ago but he's fighting back. Bud's run aims to raise funds for vital Parkinson's research.

Bud’s Run promises to be a great family day out. As well as the 5k, there’s:

A fun sprint track – for any young Usain Bolts out there (thanks to England Athletics)

An optional fancy dress competition – wear your brightest and fluffiest costume

Coffee, cake and snacks on sale – vital after any 5K!

A sizzling BBQ – staffed by the University’s top chefs

There will also be face painting and a bouncy castle. An event photographer will be there to capture some memories from the day. Entry for a family of four – two adults and two children – is available at a special price of £24.To enter click here.

There is also an evening event promising more great entertainment. Bud's Bash is a gala dinner with a great line up of guest speakers:

  • Dave Moorcroft - triple Olympian, former World 5000m record holder, Chief Executive of UK Athletics (1997-2007)
  • Hannah England - Olympian, World 1500m silver medallist, University of Birmingham alumni, coached by Bud
  • Daryl Burgess - professional footballer, played over 350 league games for West Bromwich Albion, taught by Bud at school
  • Bryn “Wobbly” Williams - record-breaking charity fundraiser. Took up marathon running after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s

We hope to see you there on 4th October!
