Be inspired and volunteer at the Oxford Half Marathon this October

With sport on everybody’s mind this summer and people across the country feeling all fired up following the success stories from the Games, the organisers of the Oxford Half Marathon (Sunday 14 October 2012) are giving you the opportunity to keep that momentum going and to play your part in a major sporting event this year.

Oxford Half

If you've not already signed up to run, you can be part of the race day atmosphere and actively contribute to the success of the race without having to tackle the 13.1 miles, all you have to do is give a few hours of your time on the day of the event.

The organisers are looking for 300 enthusiastic people to fill a variety of roles including marshalling roads, helping at water stations, baggage storage and the race village as well as handing out goodie bags and medals at the finish.

Please go to the volunteers page on the event website for full details.

You can also volunteer as a youth or adult group, club or team; groups who have pledged their support so far include Oxford Academy, Oxford Brookes University and the Falcon Rowing & Canoeing Club who won the Queens Award for Voluntary Service 2012.

All volunteers will receive a full briefing, a free Oxford Half Marathon technical t-shirt, breakfast and/or lunch, a goodie bag as well as a great opportunity to enhance their CV plus of course that immense sense of achievement for having actively contributed to the smooth running of a successful event.

You can register by completing the volunteer registration form on the website, by emailing [email protected] or by contacting Dave Box on 07816 847028.

The Oxford Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 14 October and if you want to run instead of volunteer then you should sign up now!
