Antrim Coast Half Marathon boasts strongest field to date

The Antrim Coast Half Marathon, taking place in Larne, Northern Ireland, boasts impressive fields and expects many PBs and records to be set on Sunday morning. The weather is on the side of fast times for this event that includes a Home International as well as an impressive list of invited international athletes from further afield. Tsehay Gemechu, from Ethiopia, will look to go under 65 minutes in the women’s race. The event will be preceded by the 'Classic Street Mile Race' that starts this evening, under the clock tower in Larne, and will see 1000 runners of all ablities set off on the first strike of the clock at 2000hrs.
Jemal Yimer, with a PB of 58:33, will be the man to beat, in the half marathon, and Marc Scott (handicap -7.2) may be the one to challenge with a stellar track season behind him. Callum Hawkins (handicap -2.6) makes a rare appearance but has had a good build up to this event in training.
Northern Ireland all comers’ records are expected to be set at the picturesque coastal resort in Northern Ireland.
In the men’s Home International race, Matthew Neill (handicap -3.4) is likely to feature as one of the top Northern Ireland runners after recently winning the National 10 000m on the track and a with a Personal Best of 66:44 for the Half Marathon, set in Amsterdam last year. He will be challenged by Nigel Martin (handicap -5.8) , from England who ran the 2021 race, finishing fifth on that occasion
In the women’s Home International, Chloe Richardson (handicap -0.2), from England, will be hard to beat. She has a half marathon best of 73:47.
