Andy Vernon moves to second spot on the ladder

After the inclusion of track races from 800m and up in the runbritain handicap scoring system, it's been a while since we've had two runners of the longer distances at the top of the ladder but after running the stunning time of 17:35 for 4 miles at the weekend, Andy Vernon (handicap MINUS 6.2) has leap frogged Andrew Osagie (handicap MINUS 6.1) and Lee Emmanuel (handicap MINUS 6.0) to take second spot behind Mo Farah (handicap MINUS 6.6).
Andy's performance at the 4 Mijl van Groningen in the Netherlands saw him finish 4th as he flew round at a faster pace than he ran for his personal best at 10,000m. His pace was approximately 66 seconds per lap of an athletics track. The time is a new European Best and it also puts him at the top of the all-time British list for 4 miles.
Also in the race was Lauren Howarth (handicap MINUS 0.9) who stopped the clock at 19:58. Lauren also leapt up the ladder from 28th to 14th position as she took 0.7 off her handicap score.
