Admiral Swansea Bay 10k: for all the family

This year's Admiral Swansea Bay 10k takes place on 21 September at 1300hrs and, once again, the event offers various races and entertainment for all the family.
The Admiral Swansea Bay 10k offers fantastic PB potential and the big race atmosphere you get from running in a large, well-organised race.
The elite field will feature an Inter Area match featuring teams from Wales, the North, Midlands, South and a Combined Services team. It is also part of the Run Wales series and so will see runners vying once again for the additional £1000 British Only prize money.
The course records are 27.39 (Felix Limo) and 32.18 (Polline Wanjiku).
Once again, there are a number of races available to take part in, whether it’s as an adult or junior member. With prices starting from just £5.00 for Juniors, the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k and Junior races are open to all; with the usual £2 discount for club affiliated runners for the 10k, giving club members even more reason to join the race.
There is the main 10k race, the Junior 1k and 3k races, wheelchair race, mascot race, along with an exclusive Dylan Thomas Mile to celebrate the Dylan Thomas Centenary. Dylan Thomas won the ‘Swansea Mile’ race at the age of 14 in St Helen’s ground in 1928 as part of the Swansea Grammar Schools annual sports day.
The junior races continue to grow every year and the whole event is a great day out for the whole family.
The 3k race is open to those aged 9-14 years of age and the 1k race is open to those aged 11 and under, the start times for the 1k is split into two age categories: 7 and under and 8-11 yrs. Parents are welcome to run alongside their children but will not receive goody bags or water.
Runners are also encouraged to raise money for charity and the Lord Mayor’s appeal has been designated as the official charity.
Organised by the City and County of Swansea, with support from title event sponsor, Admiral, and radio partner, Heart FM, the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k has been voted one of the top road races in the UK on various occasions and attracts thousands of entrants and spectators.
