Adam sets new record for running fastest marathon in a 10 day series

On Sunday, 27 year old runner Adam Holland (handicap 1.5) became the fastest person to run one marathon in a series of 10 run over 10 consecutive days for the Brathay 10in10.

Even more astonishing is that he ran his fastest time, two hours, 54 minutes (2:54:02) on the last day of the series, having already run nine beginning on Friday 9 May. His time also placed him just 36 seconds behind the winner of the one day marathon.

Adam’s achievement, along with 13 other people who also ran 10 marathons in 10 days, has raised over £92,000 for the Lake District based Brathay Trust and their work with vulnerable young people.

The 26.2 mile anti-clockwise route circumnavigates England’s longest lake, Windermere. It takes in the honey-pot sites of Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside. This is the eighth year it has been organised and the third time Adam has run in it.

A delighted and emotional Adam was cheered at the finish line by a large crowd. He said the running conditions were good and despite the temperature the cloud cover had helped.

Adam’s next running event is the Seven Marathons in Seven Days in just over a week’s time (26 May – 1 June) and starting in Weston-super-Mare.
