35 years of “feet running Fleet” – will you be there?

Sunday March 20th 2016 will be the 35th running of the Brooks Fleet pre-London Half Marathon and there are more than 35 reasons why you should be there.
Race Director, Penny Abbott from Fleet & Crookham AC says “We would like to send an invitation out to all runners to come and celebrate our birthday. Whether 2016 is your first running of the Fleet or you have run several of them over the years, you will all be very welcome. We are very proud as a running club to still host this annual event – organised “by runners, for runners” we look at the event through the eyes of the runner to make it the perfect day”.
The Brooks Fleet Half Marathon is perfectly placed as an ideal warm-up event for London or another spring marathon or just as a target half marathon to kick start 2016. The locals in the town and surrounding villages always come out to cheer on the runners and many local groups provide volunteers on the day to make the day go along smoothly.
Penny says “We depend on over 300 volunteers on the day, but every year they come back to help out again – it truly is a community event”. At the 2015 race over 70 charities benefitted from the sponsor monies raised by our charity runners – a fantastic achievement. Whilst sponsor monies are being raised by some of the runners in the mid to the back of the pack, at the front the pace is hot with club and service runners challenging their team mates.”
There are plans for birthday treats galore so put the date in your diary now. This race is normally full by Christmas so don’t leave it late to enter. Entries can be made via www.fleethalfmarathon.com and with club runner entries at just £21 it is great value too.
