250 teams to take part in Diamond Relays

The inaugural Diamond 5 X 5km Relays take place from inside the Stadium in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park next Monday evening 27th July on a measured 5k course, from tunnel to tunnel, with the Gold Baton handover on the track. The final leg will cover 5.2k.

Now that the entries are in, the teams are looking forward to being the last to run on the 2012 Olympic track before it is relaid for 2016. In addition to the 1250 runners, there will be 1250 supporters with each team and there are an additional 1500 spectator passes available on the night from information booth near K turnstile.

The largest team to enter is UBS bank with a total of 30 teams. EDF Energy have also done a great job in recruiting with 18 teams due to line up on the night. There will also be several well-known faces with the CEO of moneysavingexpert.com, Martin Lewis joining his team. Martin is a regular adviser on 5 Live and This Morning. Donna Fraser, who finished 4th in the 400m at the Sydney Olympics is the captain of the  EDF Energy team.

Runners and spectators can look forward to an electric atmosphere with screens, cameras, scoreboard and music in full operation and trophies for the Best Supported Team and Most Creative Uniform!
