2020 Reading Half Marathon ramps up with free entry for country’s fastest and finest talent

Who will take the top spot at the 2020 Reading Half Marathon? Sunday 5th April will see the country’s finest lace up and lead the way to new PBs at one of the UK’s fastest and most-loved half marathons.
Race organiser, Goldline Events, is inviting athletes who have broken race times of 70 minutes (men) or 80 minutes (women) in the last two years to bag their free elite entry. In 2019 there were 170 runners who finished sub 80 minutes and 403 runners crossing the line sub 90 minutes.
Judith Manson, Race Director says: “It’s looking to be a great line up this year. Past winners, Andy Vernon and Jenny Nesbitt will join us again, along with debut runners, Adam Craig and Laura Gent. Club runners have put in incredible performances in past years so we look forward to welcoming both club talent and world class athletes to the start line.
“Ranked as one of the top prize money events in the UK, at least £13,280 will go to UK and Irish athletes with further monetary rewards for fast times of up to £41,400. A whopping £54,680 is up for grabs!”
Taking in the highlights of Reading town centre, it’s a world renowned course, boasting huge crowd support, pumping musical entertainment and beautiful University grounds. A finish line like no other awaits every runner inside the Madejski Stadium, the home of Reading FC.
Just 20 days prior to the 40th London Marathon, the Reading Half is the ideal event to taper for the big 26.2 miles ahead. “How better to sprint down the home straight than with a roaring Stadium crowd to some of the best medal bling around” says Manson.
