10th April confirmed as date for ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon 2016

Organisers have confirmed that the next ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon in Trafford will take place on Sunday 10th April 2016.
The 2016 race will be the 40th anniversary race of the Manchester Marathon, which the current organisers Xtra Mile Events brought back in 2012 after a decade’s absence.
The race grew by 33% from 2014 to 2015, and with an increased number of 15,000 places for 2016 the organisers are expecting a sell-out.
The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon in Trafford is the UK’s flattest, fastest and friendliest marathon, and the British-only prize fund attracts a top quality British elite field as well as many international runners. It’s also the perfect race for first time marathoners, charity runners and those seeking a PB or qualifying time, whilst being renowned for its huge crowd and community support and the unique entertainment programme around the course.
The 2016 race will incorporate the Half/Halfand 4 Leg Team Relays again, allowing teams of two or four runners to share the marathon distance between them. The start, finish and race village will be at Manchester United Football Club in Old Trafford. Early bird places for the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon in Trafford are available until 31st October and cost £48 for affiliated runners, and £50 for unaffiliated runners and wheelchair entries. The early bird entry fees for the Half/Half Relay are £85 per team and £130 per team for the 4 Leg Relay. All finishers receive a medal, goody bag and ASICS technical t-shirt.
Cancer Research UK, The Christie charity and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity have been confirmed as the Official Charities for the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon 2016, with everydayhero announced as the official fundraising platform.
Race Director Simon Hill commented: “We are excited to confirm the date of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon 2016. “We are very happy that ASICS continues as the title sponsor for the race and we are looking forward to unveiling further partners and sponsors shortly.”
